Greta has worked in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors focussing mainly on English and Literacy. With extensive experience in state schools and independent schools, she has worked in a broad range of educational contexts. Greta has spoken at international conferences on issues related to digital learning and innovation in education, two of her enduring passions. Recently, she has been working on the connection between listening and reading comprehension. Her experience and expertise in English as an Additional Language has led to teaching experience in Cuba, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam and China. She has an extensive publications record and has been involved for many years in developing engaging and rigorous assessment tasks. She has worked in teacher education and is currently a member of the Course Advisory Committee for Torrens University.
Debbie has worked in schools as well as community and educational associations, managing professional learning, organising conferences, commissioning and editing teaching resources, consulting and, of course, teaching. She was CEO of the professional association for English teachers for ten years, and holds several positions on community and not-for-profit boards. Debbie has been involved in the VCE subject English Language since its inception as a course developer, assessor and co-author of several text books, including most recently Love the Lingo and Living Lingo. She was engaged by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority as Chief Assessor and Chair of the Exam Setting Panel for English Language for a number of years. With a background in English as an Additional Language, management of international student programs and significant expertise in linguistics, Debbie is widely regarded as a leader in her field. Contribution to a number of national curriculum projects means she has considerable skill in innovative curriculum development and knowledge of the Australian curriculum: English.
Janny has a special interest in ways of scaffolding student learning for critical thinking across the English study design areas. She has post-graduate qualifications in language and literacy, from Deakin University Melburne. She qualified as a school literacy leader and has worked with EAL students in a range of contexts, as well as tutoring individual students. She has worked for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority as an assessor in Literature, English and English Language, and on a range of panels including examination setting, course review and text selection, as well as writing exemplary course materials for VCAA. She has a range of publications in all VCE English studies, and she co-authored the Gateway Program for pre-VCE EAL students in China. Janny has worked in secondary schools in Victoria throughout her teaching career. Most recently, Janny has presented revision classes for students in China, and she works as a mentor for off-shore EAL teachers in China schools.
